Background
I’ve always been into building and fixing things. As a kid I was obsessed with Lego, and taking things apart. This interest held as I grew older and eventually turned into an interest in electronics, computers, auto repair, building furniture, home repairs, etc.
Luckily, I’ve been able to transfer those skills into a career in technology. Being able to design, plan, troubleshoot, and navigate resouce limitations have been a benefit in the workplace.
Education
I graduated with a Bachelors of Art from The University of Toledo.
Work
My work history started in retail. The crossover into technology happened in the prime Apple retail era (2008). From there it went Apple hardware repair > Helpdesk Support > System Administration. Mostly in heavy macOS environments. Feeling a bit locked into this macOS niche, I focused on obtaining Networking and AWS certs. That coupled with heavy homelabbing, helped move things to the next level.
Currently, I work in the FinTech space doing System Engineering. I work with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met, and feel like I have the opportunity to grow every day.
Hobbies
In my spare time, I like to get away from the computer. I have a small wood shop in the basement where I build furniture, do home renovations/repairs, etc. So, most of my free time involves getting my hands dirty and working on house projects.
